Any amount charged to a credit or debit card will be treated as set forth above. All products returned to VoIPtel, for any reason, must follow the RMA procedure.
Prior to returning a product for repair, the customer must first contact VoIPtel’s Customer Care department and outline the details of the defect or improper operation. A description of any tests performed, and the associated results, will help to identify the root cause. This approach ensures that the problem could not be addressed remotely thereby requiring the product to be returned to VoIPtel' plant for repair.
For all product returns, an RMA Number must be obtained from a Technical Support Specialist within the Customer Care department.
The following information is required to obtain an RMA Number:- Serial number of the product to be returned (Note: Multiple products are given individual RMA numbers);
- Operating system and driver version (if product is a card) being returned; and
- Detailed reason for returning the product.
Customers can contact VoIPtel’s Customer Care department, Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:00 CET, by phone at +47 55 69 80 10 or through our contact form.
Once an RMA number has been assigned, the RMA Number is to be clearly written on the outside of the package (product returned without a valid RMA Number may be refused).
The product(s) are to be properly packaged and shipped pre-paid to:
VoIPtel Europe Ltd.
Hamrevegen 31v

NORWAY
Considerations:- A product(s) being returned to VoIPtel must be properly packaged in order to ensure the product is not damaged during transit. The product should be placed into an anti-static bag and, if possible, in it's original shipping box. This should then be packaged for shipping in a second box to prevent damage.
- VoIPtel is not responsible for any damage that may occur during shipping to its office. Sufficient insurance to cover any such damage is the responsibility of the shipper.
- If VoIPtel is to return the product to an address other than the original shipment address, the new address must be included in the box with the product.
- Only the original purchaser can return products for repair under the warranty provided by VoIPtel.
Repair Pricing
It is the responsibility of the customer to cover the cost of shipping an RMA product to VoIPtel.
Return shipment of a repairable item will be paid by VoIPtel for an in-warranty product. Return shipment of a repairable item will be paid by the customer for an in-warranty no fault found product.
Please observe that we have a No Fault Found and/or Incomplete Description Fee. We therefore strongly recommend that the product is properly tested before return, and that a good description of the problem as well as its symptoms is included when the product is returned.Advance Replacement
If the product is dead-on-arrival (DOA) we can, upon request, Advance Replace the product without charge to the customer. A DOA is defined as a product failure that has occurred within 2 months of VoIPtel’s shipping date.
If the time between the shipping date and the report of a failure is between 2 and 12 months we can, upon request, Advance Replace the product for a euro 100,- fee.
VoIPtel will not provide an Advance Replacement for products past 12 months of the shipping date.Repair Time
VoIPtel will endeavour to return a product sent for repair to the customer within fifteen (15) calendar days of receipt of the repairable product.
Warranty
The warranty period on repairs is 90 days from the shipment date of the repaired card to the customer or the balance of the existing warranty period, whichever is longer.- RoHS Compliance
ROHS is a directive from the European Union (EU) and is often called "Lead-Free" legislation but extends to other pollutants as well. The acronym stands for the Reduction of Hazardous Substances, and it refers to "The restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment".
The RoHS directive applies to the following substances found in electronic equipment, sold within the European Union.- lead
- cadmium
- mercury
- hexavalent chromium
- poly brominated biphenyl (PBBs) - fire retardants
- poly brominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) - fire retardants
All products sold in the European Union after July 1st 2006 must be RoHS compliant.
Depending on their application, there are some exemptions. One example of this is when lead is used in network infrastructure and servers. If the application of the product is covered by an exemption one can legally claim the product is RoHS compliant even though it contains the banned substance(s).
RoHS compliant products that eliminate all 6 substances are known as RoHS 6.
RoHS compliant products that qualify for the network infrastructure and servers exemption for use of lead are known as RoHS 5.
VoIPtel‘s products are compliant with the RoHS directive, in accordance with the deadline.
VoIPtel Europe Ltd. will focus on RoHS and lead free requirements for other markets, and will continue to stay abreast of developing environmental legislation.- Telecom Approvals
- VoIPtel's products come with various telecom approvals, which are required in order to connect to the public telephone systems of specific countries or regions.
FCC Part 68 for telecom equipment in USA- The 1996 U.S. Telecommunications Act requires the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) to review its rules every two years and repeal or modify any rules no longer in the public interest. This review in 1996 follows a worldwide telecom deregulatory trend designed to help trade. The FCC Part 68 approval process has been streamlined for FCC Part 68 approval of telecom terminal equipment. The FCC has distanced itself from any direct involvement in the FCC Part 68 terminal equipment approval process. Now the responsibility for FCC Part 68 approval has been delegated to industry and particularly to the Administrative Council for Terminal Attachment (ACTA). The following is an outline for the FCC Part 68 approval process.
The first step for FCC Part 68 approval is to ensure that the equipment has been designed to conform with the USA technical criteria in TIA/EIA-968-A and 47 CFR Part 68. These two standards outline the technical specifications for FCC Part 68 approval. There is a misconception that all of the technical requirements are located in the TIA-EIA-968-A standard. The FCC did retain some technical requirements in FCC Part 68, which includes, but is not limited to, the Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) and volume control (VC) requirements.
The second step is for a representative sample of the final product to be tested to the two standards to ensure FCC Part 68 compliance. To assist in the testing phase, the TIA/EIA/TSB-31-C document is a helpful guide. The manufacturer itself can perform this FCC Part 68 testing, or a recognized testing laboratory like CCL can perform the testing. For FCC Part 68 approval, the testing laboratory does not need to be accredited by any government or private agency. It is very common for the laboratory to have an accreditation by NVLAP or A2LA for FCC Part 68 testing. CCL does maintain FCC Part 68 accreditation by NVLAP.
After the successful FCC Part 68 testing, a formal test report is prepared. This test report should detail the testing results and summarize the findings in the FCC Part 68 compliance testing. The manufacturer or responsible party should keep the FCC Part 68 report on file to defend the FCC part 68 compliance of the equipment.
Once the FCC Part 68 test report is prepared, the manufacturer has two options. The manufacturer may prepare a Suppliers Declaration of Conformity (SDoC), or a Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) laboratory may review the FCC Part 68 test report. The review by a TCB laboratory will issue a FCC Part 68 TCB Grant. Either the SDoC or the FCC Part 68 TCB Grant must be issued as part of the total FCC Part 68 approval process.
Once the FCC Part 68 SDoC or the FCC Part 68 TCB Grant is prepared, ACTA must be notified. This notification is so the FCC Part 68 approved equipment will be filed in the public database of FCC Part 68 approved equipment.
The equipment is then labelled with the FCC Part 68 certification number. This FCC Part 68 number on the product ensures that the user is connecting an FCC Part 68 compliance product.
When all these steps are completed, the equipment is FCC Part 68 compliant to connect to the public switch telephone network.
- The CE marking (also known as CE mark) is a mandatory conformity mark on many products placed on the single market in the European Economic Area (EEA).
Significance
By affixing the CE marking, the manufacturer, its authorized representative, or person placing the product on the market or putting it into service asserts that the item meets all the essential requirements of the relevant European Directive(s). Examples of European Directives requiring CE marking include toy safety, machinery, low-voltage equipment, R&TTE, and EM compatibility. There are about 25 Directives requiring CE marking. [1].
Officially, CE has no meaning as an abbreviation, but may have originally stood for Communauté Européenne or Conformité Européenne, French for European Conformity.Declaration of conformity
- The CE marking is a mandatory European marking for certain product groups to indicate conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European Directives. To permit the use of a CE mark on a product, proof that the item meets the relevant requirements must be documented. Sometimes this is achieved using an external test house which evaluates the product and its documentation. Often it is achieved by a company-internal self-certification process. In any case the responsible organization (manufacturer, representative, importer) has to issue a EC-Declaration of Conformity (EC-DoC) indicating his identity (location, etc.), the list of European Directives he declares compliance with, a list of standards the product complies with, and a legally binding signature on behalf of the organization. The EC-DoC underlines the sole responsibility of the manufacturer. Parts of the certification process for the CE marking could be performed by 3rd party test houses or certification bodies; in case that this is mandatory the CE symbol also includes a number that identifies the so called Notified Body.
To be strictly accurate, there are two forms of Declaration, either a "Declaration of Conformity" or a "Declaration of Incorporation". Generally speaking this is only the case under the Machinery Directive, for example, a stand alone machine, which requires only a power source to operate would be issued with a Declaration of Conformity. Whereas, a machine which requires additional systems, attachments, feed conveyors etc, before it can provide its intended function, must be issued with a Declaration of Incorporation. In this latter case it is illegal to CE Mark such a machine. This can only be achieved once the machine has been finally installed and all other elements incorporated into the system, then a final Risk Assessment is performed to verify compliance of the system and a final Declaration of Conformity is then issued.
Furthermore, these directives are based upon what the European Commission calls a New Approach, whereby if any of the Article 100A Directives apply to your product, then you must apply them. More information on these and other directives can be found at [1] or [2]
Directives providing the requirements for the CE marking are created by the European Union (EU), but the markings are required throughout the European Economic Area (EEA). According to information provided by the Swiss Government for Swiss Exporters the CE Mark is not compulsory in Switzerland except for products for export to the European Union.) TBR-21 for Europe
TBR 21 establishes the minimal technical interface requirements for terminals (except simple telephones) to access the European market. The corresponding decision of the Council of the European Union, commonly designated CTR 21, gave the necessary legal value to the ETSI document. Dated 20 July 1998, CTR 21 is the formal recognition of this 1st step (decision 98/482/EC, published 4 August 1998 in the Official Journal of the European Communities, L 216/8).
For your analogue modem or phone to cooperate in all European phone networks, compliance with TBR-21 is an essential requirement. This is important, as dial tones, voltages and call progress tones frequencies, timing and duration vary among most member states. A common step of requirements guarantees decent network cooperation, and a set of national Deviations allows for your equipment to predict reliable operation on local markets.
TBR-21 is concerned with the technical aspects of the TTE/PSTN interface:
- Voltage / Current Characteristics
- DTMF tone generation
- Call progress detection
- Return losses and symmetry to Ground
- Ring detection
- ON/OFF Hook characteristics
- Polarity and short interruptions
- Busy tone recognition
- Distortion and spurious emissions
Approvals, Permits and Compliance in Australia
The Australian Telecommunications Authority (Austel) were responsible for issuing cabling licences, equipment permits and monitoring the conduct of licence and permit holders for all equipment and components connected to the Australian telephone network. The Spectrum Management Agency (SMA) was the Australian Commonwealth statutory agency responsible for the management of radio communications in Australia. On 1 July 1997, the AUSTEL and SMA merged to form the Australian Communications Authority (ACA). On July 1st 2005, ACA and ABA (Australian Broadcasting Authority) merged to form the ACMA (Australian Communications Media Authority). The ACMA is now responsible for technical regulation, consumer issues and licensing of telecommunications and radiocommunications in Australia.A-Tick

The A-tick and ACMA supplier code indicates compliance with Australian telecommunications requirements and that the equipment can be legally connected to the Australian Telecommunications Network.
Look for this label if your equipment is not approved:
